Whilst our experience of Buffalo Bill’s was two years ago, I really wanted to share our experience of it here over on The Willow Tree. I love writing about what I am passionate about, and I am certainly passionate about Disney! But recently, I have heard a few Disney rumours that, whilst it is great news that Disney Village is soon to get revamp, but in that process, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show with Mickey and Friends may be no more! (If anyone know’s otherwise, please correct me if I am wrong!)
Buffalo Bill’s is a Wild West show which includes dinner. It is one of the major shows at Disneyland Paris and is unique in it’s own right – it is not shown at any other Disney Park in the world! It’s therefore one of a kind and I feel is really special for Disneyland Paris.
The show is held in a huge arena where there is tiered seating for guests around it. The show consists of classic characters such as Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley and Sitting Bull. And of course, not forgetting our favourites Mickey, Minnie ,Goofy and Chip and Dale! These fantastic characters re-enact fabled moments from the frontier through stunning shootouts and amazing stunts!
We decided to book onto the 6.30pm showing (there is another at 9.30pm but we felt this was too late for the kids!) Upon arriving into the building, you enter a bar area with a small stage. Here we could order drinks if we wished and watched the western band which featured the ever so funny Goofy! This really built up the momentum and excitement for the show, especially when we were given a cowboy hat with a coloured sash on to indicate which team we would be supporting.
After about 30 minutes or so, we entered the 2000 seated arena and sat with all the other ‘blue’s! We were about half way up the tiered seating but as it was tiered, you had the perfect view from wherever you sat (you can pay extra to be on the front row but I personally feel there is no need!)
As the 90 minute action packed show began, we were served our drinks – unlimited beer or soft drinks! Of course, any Western show also needs to be partnered up with some finger licking food! We got served tortilla chips, camp corn bread (which was out of this world!) and the cattleman’s chill, which was sweet and smokey. We then got served a Texan skillet (rib, chicken leg and pork) with old style potato wedges, followed by a warm apple pie and ice cream.
For vegetarians, they offer a veggie pasta instead. This was all finished off with either tea or coffee and chocolate coins. The children got served the same however ice lollies were also offered too. Such wholesome western fare really contributed to our experience and happily, the food tasted spectacular!
Whilst we enjoyed the great food, we were also watching the show. Without giving too much away, the show’s story is around how the West was won. It involves cowboys and indians on their horses and also involves a lot of audience participation, hence why you are in four teams dependant on the colour on your cowboy hat (which you get to keep by the way).
This truly authentic action-packed show was inspired by the legendary touring show created by Buffalo Bill himself between 1882 and 1912, exploring the life of pioneers and featuring Indian rituals, rodeo stunts, bison hunting, a shoot-out with audience participation and, last but not least, the legendary stagecoach hold-up.
I couldn’t believe it but I decided to volunteer for the last part of the show! Myself and other volunteers got to ride in the stage coach and got caught by the bandits! I was so nervous, but it is amazing to say I’ve been apart of Buffalo Bills Wild West show!
Have you seen the show yet? Let’s hope Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show doesn’t get replaced because it really is an awesome experience that is not one to miss!
