5 easy ways to update your kitchen

When it comes to renovation, we’ve completely transformed our ground floor in our house.  One of the rooms that we have really changed was our kitchen, moving the kitchen from the front of the house, to a more open plan design at the back of the house.  Despite moving the rooms around and having a new kitchen fitted, I always feel a kitchen is an ongoing project, and with that in mind, I wanted to share with you 5 easy ways to update your kitchen.  This of course, can be adapted depending on your budget.

1.Give some cupboard love

Cupboards can get worn and damaged quite easily over the years.  And with that being said, many people feel that need to completely rip out their kitchen and stick a new one in.  Well, in actual fact, working on the cupboards alone can completely transform your kitchen and give it a whole new lease of life.  Providing a lick of paint, new handles and a good old wipe down can really make your kitchen feel updated and revived.  Perhaps change the colour or simplify your cupboards with a neutral colour.

2.Brighten up your kitchen with more glass

When moving our kitchen to the back of the house, we decided to have more glass added to the room to really brighten up the space.  Having double doors and a window added meant that not only was this a great additional way to enter the garden, but it also meant that floor to ceiling light was been allowed in to the room, giving it a much more brighter feel.  There are plenty of glass suppliers in the UK to approach.

3.Worktop space

Are you really unitising that space?  Having a move of items around your kitchen worktops can really make a difference and transform a kitchen.  Perhaps you have a fair amount of clutter and need to use your cupboard space better.  Or if you don’t have enough space, consider extending it by adding in a portable work top which you can put away when not in use.  There are some great options at Ikea.

4.Kitchen floor

Is your kitchen floor looking tired?  With our kitchen being the central hub of the house, our kitchen is floor is looking tired and worn.  Consider laying down a new floor or perhaps try a different type of flooring that is more durable.  Or a rug can also cover up areas that you’d prefer not to be on show, and is also cheaper than laying down a new floor. I know that this is something on our ‘to-do’ list!

5.Feature wall

We have a feature wall in our kitchen, offering the space a more homely feel.  We decided to go with white brick, but there are plenty of other options to consider when it comes to adding wallpaper, or even wall stickers as an easy way to update your kitchen.  I love the wall sticker quotes, which are really lovely.  Another great idea to decorate your kitchen wall is by hanging cute or inspirational framed quotes on your wall.  You don’t even have to spend a lot of money on this because you can make one yourself.  Just make sure that you have access to a free editing tool or software, and download Creative Fabrica’s free fonts. Make the design, print it, and frame it.  As simple as that!

And there you have it!  Do you have any ideas to add to the many easy ways to update your kitchen?  I’d love to hear them!

Thanks for reading xxx
