This spring, we visited FarGo Village located in Coventry for their family friendly chocolate festival! I was first introduced to FarGo Village last summer when Coventry Bloggers had their first blogger meet up. I was instantly intrigued by the place, with its quirky stalls, shops and alternative cafes. It really reminded me of a small Custard Factory in Birmingham – the place is brimming with one-off purchases, street art and I have to say, the best hot dogs I’ve ever had!

We decided to go along to FarGo Village on sunny Saturday 30th March for a Mother’s day outing, and to prep us for Easter of course! FarGo was holding a family friendly chocolate festival within their Market Hall, and the kids were excited to get involved and make some chocolate. I was also looking forward to showing the rest of my family what FarGo Village was all about!

The kids were excited to visit, and were even more excited when they noticed that they could make some chocolate slabs or chocolate truffles. Whilst the kids got stuck in and was led by the friendly staff, I took a little wander around and admired some of the diverse chocolate offerings, helping myself to many a sample – you have to try before you buy right?! There were chocolate easter eggs, Turkish and Cypriot delights, boozy cupcakes and macaroons – sounds like chocolate heaven – and it was!

There was also a quaint little afternoon tea area towards the back of the chocolate festival, which was serving what looked like a delicious afternoon tea. Unfortunately, you do have to pre-book so we wasn’t able to take advantage of this, however this is an excuse to return very soon.
Afternoon Tea
The kids were really impressed with their chocolate making course and both decorated their chocolate masterpieces using the delicious and colourful decorations on offer. Whilst their chocolate was setting, they were each given a paper bag to decorate and after 15 minutes, their chocolate was ready. There was no hanging around – it was devoured in minutes (but they did share!) The cost to make a chocolate master piece was priced at £5 which I felt was reasonable considering they spent a good 45 minutes decorating and colouring.

We were lucky enough to have lovely weather on the day we visited FarGo Village, so we spent some time in the courtyard area and ordered some Big Daddy hot dogs which were delicious and so flavoursome! The kids also had an opportunity to take in all the quirky and bright wall art, which they thought was really cool!

We had a lovely little outing here today, and we will definitely be returning in the near future. If you haven’t been before, and are local to Coventry, go check out FarGo Village. There is an array of events on over the year to suit everybody. You can check out what’s coming up over on their website.
