Are you a Dedicated Follower of Fashion?

*This is a collaborative post*

We all need a hobby. And knowing the latest trends is somewhat popular these days. Social media and the internet have made it easier than ever to be a dedicated follower of fashion.

You Spend Hours Online

Browsing the web for your favourite things can sometimes make it feel like you have been abducted by aliens and lost time. One minute you’re sitting down with a coffee to get some autumn outfit ideas, and the next, it’s way past your bedtime. You can literally spend hours getting lost looking at style ideas on Pinterest, Facebook and even your favourite clothing outlet as you add new stuff to your wish list. Don’t feel bad about it. Everyone needs an outlet. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting the things you work hard for, within the budget, of course.

You Analyse the Look of Others

There’s a never-ending supply of inspiration on the world wide web. Yet going into the real world, you can still find yourself distracted and looking for ideas. Perhaps you check out a group of 20-somethings for their casual wear. Or maybe you can’t stop thinking about how those boots just don’t match that jacket. People watching is one thing. But you know you’re a budding fashionista when you actively begin to judge what others are wearing. And this includes their hair, makeup and any other item that makes or breaks their entire ensemble.

You’re a Follower of Fashion Influencers

Coming back to the web, you can find yourself following social media influences for ideas, inspiration and general entertainment. It’s so easy to get lost in the rabbit hole of posts and comments. But influencers are everywhere these days, and you might begin doing other things:

Any of these indeed hints that you are a fashion follower. And it’s great that you have a hobby and interest. However, too much screen time is unhealthy and causes issues such as anxiety, sleep loss and mental fatigue. Try to disconnect a couple of hours before you go to bed.

You Dress Up and Take Selfies

Selfies have become a genuine photography phenomenon. And modern smartphone cameras almost rival some DSLRs. Coupled with various apps and tools for real-time editing, filters and colour adjustments, you can make any selfie look stunning in minutes. So it’s no surprise that you may find yourself taking tons of selfies while trying on new clothes, accessories or makeup. Most people do this with their friends. But as a fashion-forward thinker, you do this whenever you can, in between following your influencers and browsing the web for fashion tips.

You Buy the Latest Gadgets

Of course, fashion extends way beyond clothing. It touches almost every facet of society, one of which is technology. Where tech was once for those labelled “nerds” and “geeks”, sporting the latest gadgets is now fashionable. As such, you might find you have become a technophile by proxy. And you could probably give your local IT technician a run for their money. From smartphones and tablets to automated homes and entertainment consoles, new technology has invaded our lives. However, while tech is undeniably useful, the real concern is data and privacy.

Summary

A follower of fashion will do various things to sate their trendy appetite. You might find yourself spending hours on sites like Pinterest, scrolling influencers and buying the latest gadgets.
