With 3 children aged between 10 and 3, we’ve had our fair share of kids advent calendars over the years. Therefore I’d like to share with you our best advent calendars for kids 2020, and what stands out for us! Whether your looking for a toddler advent calendar, the best sweets advent calendar or something for them tweens, here’s out best picks!
Let’s face it – toy advent calendars for kids are the most impressive to look at (whilst some of them might not always deliver.) Over the years, we’ve had a variety of toy calendars ranging from playmobile to play doh. There are a fair amount of toy advent calendars out there and it can feel overwhelming when choosing the right one for you child as, as parents, we simply do not want to waste money on tat!
This play doh advent calendar is perfect if you have play doh loving kids. It comes with 5 full size packs of play doh ready to use immediately which is great. On the lead up to Christmas, behind each door, there is a variety of cutters (mostly Christmas themed) a rolling pin, play doh scissors, a knife and some decorative items to use for the play doh. We have brought this in previous years and I was impressed. This is currently priced at £15.99 on Amazon.
L.O.L Dolls are still ridiculously popular and I am sure many girls out there are excited for this one. This L.O.L advent calendar features a limited doll (Trickstra B.B) as well as 25 outfit surprises such as booties, hats and accessories. The packaging is pretty impressive, which is set out across a 3 tier floor. Each door is hidden around the tiered stands. It’s obviously on the higher end price of an advent calendar and I cannot comment on the contents as we haven’t actually brought it, but I can imagine it would please almost all L.O.L fans! £29.99 from Smyths.
It wouldn’t be a true list of the best kids advent calendars without a mention of Lego! We love Lego in this house, and have far too much of it! I can also vouch for the lego calendars that are on sale, having purchased them in the past. We have enjoyed a selection of them over the years but the Lego City Advent Calendar looks right up my 3 year olds street. He loves anything that is car related, and I’ve really struggled to find him a good calendar that looks desirable! This fun advent calendar comes with micro vehicles, accessories and even a Santa’s Sleigh. You can get this from Amazon for £19.99.
Whilst this isn’t technically a toy advent calendar, it definitely deserves a mention. Priced at only £10 in Asda and selling out fast, this Disney book advent is perfect for those little ones who love to read. There are 3 styles to this calendar, including Disney, Frozen and Mavel. The Advent calendar opens up to represent a book, and behind each door is a lovely small book for you and your child to read each evening before they go to bed. Books include Toy Story, Monster’s Inc. and even Onward! This is also excellent value too!
One calendar that I have brought several times over the years is the Smiggle Advent Calendar. Normally priced at £25, there is currently a sale on at Smiggle reducing this to only £16 which is a bargain! Inside you’ll find various fun and vibrant stationary items that you typically see in Smiggle. Smelly pens, a slap band and various stationary items, this would please any child who adores stationary! We found that this kids advent calendar is really great on value and you definitely get your moneys worth! All the items are of great quality too!
Another fantastic stationary advent calendar for kids, this crayola has been a firm favourite for us over the years too. My daughter last had this when she was 4 and she loved it. Behind each door you’ll find crayons, a window pen, paints, modelling clay and more arts and crafts supplies. What’s also great about this kids advent calendar is that is also comes with 24 activity sheets, which is great for your child to complete each day on the lead up to Christmas. We totally rate this! The price of this is currently at £17.95 on Amazon.
As soon as I saw this sweets advent calendar it caught my eye. I mean, who doesn’t love Nerds?! Priced at only £10, behind each door you’ll find a small pack of your favourite crunchy tangy sweets. A perfect way to start any morning right?! Available from Studio.
Have a child who much prefers sweets instead of chocolate? I think it is safe to say that Haribo is a firm favourite in our house, and this haibo advent calendar is top of the list when it comes to sweets advents this year! This festive-themed sweet advent includes 24 seasonal mini bags of haribos behind each door featuring sweet mini bears, cola bottles, and fruit flavoured chews. This would be perfect for those kids who love sweets! Only £5 from Wilkos.
If you fancy a children’s advent calendar with a difference, then Brainbox is a great alternative to a chocolate or toy calendar. Suitable for children aged 4 and over, this is a countdown, game and decoration in one! Each day, on the lead up to Christmas, children can select one card to play. Then using the pegs provided, hang up the bauble cards on a piece of string! We have a few of the Brainbox games at home and they really are a great game to get all the family to participate in (I recommend the Horrible Histories!) Priced at £10 on Amazon.
This is a lovely fill yourself calendar, where you can actually hang your own items off it. There are small golden hooks across the calendar where you simply can hang your items in little boxes. I adore this idea! Just think what little gifts you could hang for each day! From H&M and £12.99
Whilst this isn’t technically a full 24 window advent calendar, it is something to have on the run up to Christmas. And with a 10 year old approaching then tween years, he is already enjoying using body spray and deodorant. I think is is a lovely alternative to a Chocolate advent calendar, and some of the Lynx treats look great! Inside, there is a Lynx keyring, comb, socks and plenty of items to keep them boys smelling fresh! Priced at £20 on Amazon.
This looks insane and perfect for a tween or even an adult (I’d love this!) It’s jam packed full of soap and glory products, including creamy shower gel, hydrating hand cream, breakfast scrub and dry shampoo! I have used Soap and Glory in the past and can 100% say that the scent is divine – so creamy! This is currently unavailable to buy online at Boots, so if you wish to purchase, you’re going to need to head to a store. It is also on sale too, selling at a price of £33.60.
And there you have it – our best advent calendars for kids! Which one will be pick?
