Best online games to play whilst travelling

We love to travel.  Whether its near or far, we love a road trip, but it can be hard to keep yourself entertained during long journeys.  Often, I find myself overwhelmed and need a safe space to relax.  Online gaming has proved to me what a great place this is for me to destress and while away sometime during travel.  With three kids in tow though, it can be hard to grab some me time, so we sometimes play together if it is possible.

In this article I will be sharing some fantastic online games to keep you entertained whilst travelling.

Disney Dreamlight Valley – Nintendo Switch/Lite

Ok so this has been an early release game that I have been enjoying for about 2 months and is a great game!  This game is obviously perfect for Disney lovers like myself, but it also a great way of unwinding as it’s relaxing and whilst there are challenges throughout the game, there is nothing too strenuous to face.  The game involves your avatar to try and clear Dreamlight Valley of a bad spell that has taken over, with some characters that have disappeared into the Forgotten.  There are several biomes to work through as well as many story quests and character quests. Dreamlight Valley has recently had an update adding new quests and a new character with lots more to come, so you can expect this game will continually have more on offer!  The game currently starts at£24.99 however, this game will be free to users from 2023.  We recently travelled to Devon and this game was great to play during our long car journey.

Solitare.org – Online via PC or Mobile

This online forum offers over 100 Ad free games at your fingertips.  As the title suggests, one of the games on offer is Solitare, which I have recently taught some of my children how to play – you cannot beat these classic games!  Whilst on a car journey, it can be hard to play with cards so playing online is a great alternative.  I love the classic version which you can see below, however they have several versions of Solitare on offer, including klondike, spider, freecell and more!

Another game I have enjoyed to play which is on offer at Solitare.org is hidden numbers.  Offering various different themes, hidden numbers is a simple but gripping game involving numbers being hidden within each level.  Each level has 30 numbers hidden and to move up a level you have to beat each level. There is also a magnifying glass to help you which I love!  Be warned, you’ll get punished if you random click!  I enjoy the castle themed levels seen below!

Finally, another classic which is available on Solitare.org is Tetris!  I think most people in their 3o’s plus will know that this was a extremely popular game on Gameboy back in the 90’s.  I was pleasantly surprised to find this available to play and is every bit as fun as it was back when I was a kid!  My children also love playing this fun game too, where you have to build blocks by changing the shape of the blocks as they drop down.  Clear a line, and the blocks will lower.  Get too high, and it’s game over!

The website is super easy to use and is a great platform to play on whilst travelling.

Friv 2017

Another popular online gaming portal that we use a lot during long distance journeys is Friv- 2019.  These games are perfect for all the family, and if you find yourself with a delayed train or flight, these games are bound to keep you entertained during travel. Some of the games are even two player so you can play with each other.  Some of our favourites include Uno, Bubble fight and pizza real life cooking.  The only downside to these games is that they are not ad free.

 Clash of Clans – App

Want to build your own clan?  This is the game for you!  What’s great is that you can Battle it out against other online players while still seated on your journey, whether that be in your car or on a train! During the game, you’ll be tasked with building houses and training your troops. You can play alone too.  It is an easy-to-understand game, so anyone can play and one in which we all love!

Thanks for reading xxx
