Bistro Chez Remy Restaurant review

Bistro Chez Remy is a table service restaurant located in Walt Disney Studios, Disneyland Paris.  Situated next to the fabulous 4D ride Ratatouille, this restaurant is on the plus dining plan, and is open to all guests of Disneyland Paris.  For me, this is one of Disneyland Paris’s most themed restaurants where all guests are transformed to the streets of Paris and takes on the feeling that you have been shrunk down to the size of a rat.  So if you fancy a change from a quick service meal or visiting a Disney buffet restaurant, read on for our review!

Themeing at Bistro Chez Remy

The theming for this Disney restaurant is top notch and thats not all – the food is also great!  Bistro Chez Remy serves traditional French cuisine, featuring the ever so famous and popular ratatouille as featured in the Disney film.   As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with oversized items such as plates, corks, cutlery and so much more.  Look above and around you and you’ll see plants with huge fairy lights positioned above, giving the real feeling that you have been shrunken down to the size of a rat.  The theme is incredible and is really worth a visit just for seeing this alone.

The restaurant is pretty large with plenty of tables.  We’ve eaten here twice during the last 5 years and have enjoyed it equally both times.  This time (Feb 2020) we were seated near the window which overlooks the exit to the Ratatouille ride, which was a pleasant treat.  We were also seated on a pretty fun table, where our seats were made out of huge bottle tops and our table featured a cocktail umbrella.

Food and Service

Admittedly, the waiter service we received at Bistro Chez Remy was a little to be desired.  Our first waiter was lacking that ‘Disney spirit’ and seemed too concerned about how he was managing to serve all his tables.  Thankfully, he must have been taken off shift and we had a pleasant waitress take over.  For me, service is everything and can completely change your experience when dining at any restaurant.  Whilst there is a language barrier, most cast members are patient and we had a much better service experience from here.

As we were staying at Sequoia Lodge, we were on the plus plan.  This meant that Bistro Chez Remy was included in this dining plan at Disneyland Paris.  We therefore chose off the Emile menu (I love how each menu is named after a Ratatouille character!)  Dining with three children, the kids also chose from their children’s plus menu too.  The Emile Menu is priced at 40.99 Euros if paying out of pocket.  This included a soft drink.  As we felt like it was a good deal, we also opted for the wine flight, at an extra 15.00 Euros.

Prior to our starters being brought there was complimentary bread which we all thoroughly enjoyed and asked for more!  For the children, for starter they opted for chicken rillettes with toast.  Honestly, the kids didn’t enjoy this much and I found the starters to be a bit of a mixed bag.  They did eat the toast!

For mains, the kids opted for the Sautéed chicken.  They all enjoyed this, but chose to not eat the ratatouille  – its a shame as it was delicious! They devoured the french fries!

For dessert, my younger two had the Remy’s chocolate and hazelnut eclair, and my eldest enjoyed the fruit salad.  We loved the raspberry sauce writing on the plate!  Included in their menu was a drink and was priced at 18.99 euros.  There is also a ‘Disney check’ menu which is vegetarian and contains at least two servings of fruit and vegetables.

For us grown ups, I ordered the Seasonal Soup (Carrot) of the day with creme cheese and chives which was really tasty and a huge portion – I couldn’t finish it.

For all of our mains, we opted for the Grilled Steak and had it cooked medium rate.  The steak came with a choice of sauce and was really tasty, as was the ratatouille which was packed full of flavour.

For dessert, I chose the Gusteau’s dessert which was a profiterole type pudding with whipped cream.  My husband when for the chocolate cake with custard.

The wine flight we also enjoyed with our course was also really enjoyable.

Our final thoughts on our Bistro Chez Remy Review

Overall, we really love this restaurant!  The theming is fantastic and fully immersive which is brilliant for the children.  The food is great if a little strange for the children might I add, with their choice of starters.  We were in this restaurant for a good while as the service was a little slow, however, we really enjoyed taking a break from the rides and just whiling away the afternoon and thankfully the kids were entertained with the interior and watching the ratatouille ride vehicles through the window!
