I just love going out for breakfast…or brunch…lunch or even dinner in fact. It is fair to say that I absolutely love to dine out with and without my kids in tow. I love experiencing new places, trying new foods and sourcing exciting places to visit (as well as visiting some home favourites!) Boston Tea Party Solihull had recently opened in my local town and I was invited along to review their brunch menu and to see what the new and freshly created restaurant had to offer…and it offers way more than a fantastic brunch!
Baby K and I perusing the exciting menu
I took my beautiful Mama along with me and just Baby K as I was told there would be some fun activities for him (also, isn’t it easier when you just have the one child with you when you have more than one child!?) Thankfully he slept whilst we ate so I really appreciated my food.
Firstly, this restaurant has had a complete face lift and as soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the front counter displaying some of the most scrumptious cakes I’ve seen. I have to say, the chocolate and raspberry flapjacks is just a MUST if you ever visit a BTP…enough said. There was plenty of tables upstairs and downstairs and for a Saturday morning at 10am, it was very busy. The staff here were extremely helpful and took us to a perfect table with plenty of room for Baby K’s buggy. We were then given the menus to look through…was a treat we were in for!

Lovely Cappuccino to start the day
There was some interesting and unique plates to choose from the menu but after some minutes of perusal, I chose the Sweetcorn Hash. On the menu, it reads ‘Halloumi, poached eggs, avocado and tomato salsa, coriander’. I already knew I loved all of these combinations and couldn’t wait to see what the Sweetcorn Hash was all about. My Mama opted for the classic; American style pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. At BTP, you have to go up to the counter to order. There was a small queue which soon went down quite quickly as the staff seemed pretty confident and organised. Our coffee were brought to the table after a little wait and all customers can help themselves to tap water at the water station, as well as colouring and pencils for the children.
Colouring activities for the kids
After a short wait, our brunch was delivered to the table and for the next 20 minutes, any serious gossip was halted so we could eat our tasty food and only comment here and there on how flavoursome our food was. I am always an honest reviewer and I have to say, this was one of the best brunches I’ve ever had whilst eaten out. It’s so refreshing to see new flavours put together on a menu and to have something different other than your typical Full English. I was happy! (And the fact Baby K slept through it all!)

It was truly delicious and we were both pleasantly full once we had cleaned our plates.
Happily snoozed, Baby K decided to make an appearance. I was glad as I had brought him to check out BTP’s additional facilities they had on offer for their opening two weeks. BTP is all about welcoming families – and they have it right, the place was full of families taking a pit stop from their Saturday morning shopping spree. But in addition to the spaciousness for buggies, the children’s menu and the offer of colouring, they also had a sensory corner and den for the little ones to explore. Straight away, Baby K was interested and wanted to investigate. The concept Milk Cub had offered their services to provide a play area for little ones for the first two weeks of opening, offering not only a place to play but breastfeeding sessions and support groups.

A happy Baby K whilst dining out
There was even a independent boutique offering children’s clothing and prior to my arrival, a baby signing class.
I think it is fantastic that Boston Tea Party Solihull are offering these extra services for families. Although this was a trial period for Milk Cub, there is future bookings for Milk Cub and other independent businesses to offer some facilities to entertain the little ones when dining out. As a Mama to 3 children, I know already I will be dining here again and I’ll be keeping up to date on whats happening next at BTP Solihull.
