I am now approaching my later 30’s (or am I already in my late 30’s?!) – I’m 37. Who knows. But I do know one thing and that is that keeping up with my skin care routine is really important right now. Currently my go-to every day items are a cleanser, toner, day and night cream plus an eye cream. But it has been a while since I’ve introduced a serum into my routine. And I have yet to include any collagen into my daily routine – YET!
But with the help from Depology, that was about to change.
Depology is a Korean brand of skincare and apparently and I didn’t know this until I did my research, but Korean skincare is becoming more and more popular. The brand focuses on various serums, treatments, and microneedle patches to provide excellent skincare results at home – result!
For the purpose of this review, I was sent two of their serum products: Depology Matrixyl® 3000 Collagen Boosting Serum and Depology Peptide Complex 10% Serum formulated with Argireline™ peptide to try out.
Lets begin with the peptide complex serum, as it recommended that when using both products, to use this one first out of the two. Developed in partnership with Lubrizol, the renowned makers of this incredible ingredient, this serum is set to be the next viral serum in the skincare industry.
As it states on the bottle, this serum is formulated with Argireline peptide, specifically to target wrinkles. Along with the Matrixyl, Depology share that the combination of the two really works well on tackling fine lines and wrinkles in the most prone areas such as around the eyes and in between the eyebrows.
Depology share a 7.22% reduction of lines in 28 days.
As with any serum, it is recommended to clense your face first prior to using which I have been doing each morning and evening. As I have wrinkles and lines forming in my forehead (I have been blessed with them since my teens), and for the 30 days I have been using this product, I have really been focusing on this area in particular, as well as around my eyes which will no doubt be an area that I need to focus on for prevention. Once this layer was applied I would then follow suite with the Matrixyl with the same process. Finally finishing off with my moisturiser and eye cream.
After using the serum for 30 days I can confirm that my skin is feeling hydrated and smooth to touch. I am very conscious of my lines so it is really hard to say if there has been a reduction but I have had comments about how great my skin looks!
– Hydration for the skin
– Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
Cost: $49
Matrixyl 3000 is a synthetic peptide that’s said to promote collagen production, which is excellent for any skin over 25 (so I am well over then!) It also has Hyaluronic Acid, aloe, and glycerin for that hydration. And who doesn’t love a good anti-aging product!
It has now been a full month since I have began using the Depology Matrixyl Collagen Boosting serum and I have to say, I am really happy with the results. The serum comes in a 30 ml bottle with a pipette to extract out the serum just like the peptide serum.
After cleansing each morning and evening, I apply a small layer onto my face after applying the peptide complex serum. I noticed that I barely needed much to cover my whole face, but as suggested with the directions on the packaging, I have mainly focused on my forehead and around my eyes, tackling the areas that are my problem spots.
As with both serums, they are smooth with no scent (which is a shame because I am a sucker for a good smell!) however I do appreciate why, as normally scents are synthetic and not helpful for the skin. The collagen serum glides over my skin and doesn’t feel tacky once dried as some often do. It also absorbs fairly quickly! Overall, I have noticed my skin looking brighter and feeling healthier.
The Matrixyl 3000 is recommended to work alongside the Depology Micro Dart Patches so I am tempted to make a purchase to add these to my skincare routine! However if you wish to purchase both of the above serums, named peptide serum duo, this can be brought at a discounted rate of $80.
– Helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles
– Firms the skin
– Results in consistent use of Matrixyl 3000 – Increase Hydration by 46.31%
– Reduce Wrinkle Depth by 5.25%
Cost: 30ml for $40
Overall I am really impressed with the results and I will continue to use both of the Depology serums and include them in my daily skin care regime. What’s great to know is that Depology is very transparent about their formulations so it’s easy to read their full ingredients list for each product- allowing you to choose the right formula for your routine. Please see their website for more information.
