Dinosaur themed Restaurant Jurassic Grill Review

I am always on the hunt for fun and quirky restaurants to take the kids too.  I love a great themed restaurant thats suitable for all the family; the likes of The Rainforest Cafe being a popular one for us in this household when we visit Disneyland Paris.  So it was with great delight that I found out about Jurassic Grill, an exciting roar-some family restaurant located in Kettering, approximately 50mins-1 hour from where we live.

We have visited Kettering before when we spent the day at Wicksteed Park, so we decided to do the same and spent a couple of hours here prior to our 2.30pm booking at Jurassic Grill.  Located in Kettering town centre, this dinosaur restaurant is not one to be missed, with a green and dinosaur themed exterior, it was a pretty anticipated walk up with the three kids super excited!

Upon entry to the restaurant, it was really quite surprising to see how themed this fun and child friendly restaurant really is!  There is huge dinosaurs dotted around the small and intimate ground floor of the restaurant, with green foliage and dinosaur decorative interior to really make you feel like you are ‘eating with the dinosaurs!’  There is a small bar and even a small shop which the kids thought was fantastic!

We were seated right next to the huge Stegosaurus, much to our 3 year olds delight and almost immediately, he wanted to look around and talk about all the dinosaurs on show.  The staff were super helpful and explained that at a designated time, we could look around the restaurant and explore what dinosaurs were around the restaurant and the fossils on display.  This was all located upstairs where there was even more seating but currently not in use.

Once we’d ordered our meals, we were then told by a member of staff that it was now our time to go and explore, which was really fun to do and definitely distracted the kids whilst they waited for their food and drinks (a genius idea!)  We explored upstairs, out on the terrace and admired the active volcano which the kids thought was great.  The dinosaurs were great and extremely realistic too!

By the time we arrived back at our table, our drinks had arrived and the children also had small colouring packs too to keep them entertained.  But in all honestly, they loved just looking around at all the dinosaurs.  Jurassic Grill really is so immersive!  There is even dinosaur noises, Jurassic music and even a thunderstorm!

Our meals arrived and we were very impressed with the standard of food.  I went with a Jackosorous Burger and my husband had the Katsu Curry burger.  The kids chose Pizzas (which were in the shape of a dino foot) and corn dogs which were delicious if I have to say so myself!

The food tasted great and was filling, presented great and overall excellent family grub.  We also opted for desserts and a coffee, which I couldn’t fault.  The kids ice creams was presented in a coconut shell which I thought was fun.

Final thoughts on Jurassic Grill

Not only is Jurassic Grill a fun filled dinosaur themed restaurant great for the kids, but it is also immersive.  Every so often, a member of the restaurants team will come around with a baby puppet dinosaur.  It was lovely to have this interaction and really kept the kids entertained.  We loved this idea!

The restaurant is also completely prepared for the prevention of Covid 19 with socially distanced markers, set times to go and explore the restaurant and hand sanitiser readily available.  All the staff were also wearing visors.  Jurassic Grill is also a cashless restaurant.  Toilets are available on the first floor but there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor also.  During the month of August 2020, this restaurant is taking part in the Eat Out scheme so our bill was 50% off.  Bonus!

Overall, this family friendly restaurant is perfect for a family trip out.  It’s educational, fun, exciting and if you have children that LOVE dinosaurs, then this is the place to come.  I would 100% recommend it to any family who loves dinosaurs.  We can’t wait to go back!  Check out their website to book your table here!
