Downtown Restaurant is a buffet restaurant located in Hotel Art of Marvel in Disneyland Paris. Newly opened last year (2021) The Marvel Hotel is the most recently renovated hotel at Disneyland Paris and with it came Downtown Restaurant! We were super excited to get a reservation on our latest trip as it was and still is a tricky place to secure a table. (reminder that you can book your advanced dinner reservations 60 days before your trip via the Disneyland Paris App!)
Downtown Restaurant is an all you can eat buffet themed on typical American, Italian and Asian cuisine. Situation just off the main lobby of the hotel, the restaurant isn’t huge (hence the difficulty securing a table) but offers a comfortable, stylish and pleasant ambiance.
It is also a great place to make reservations at for Christmas as a christmas gift for a loved one. This is the perfect place to bring your family for a hearty lunch or a nice family dinner.
Even before you get to the restaurant, I am recommending you to explore The Art of Marvel hotel before you eat. The hotel is the most immersive hotel on Disneyland Paris property and whether you are a fan of Marvel or not, you will be wowed by the decor and detail that has gone into this hotels recent renovation. The artwork, photo opps and cabinet displays are just some of the reasons to explore the lobby and take in the sights and smells that the hotel has to offer. Of course, you can enjoy the Skyline bar for pre-dinner drinks and, whilst they do not take reservations, we arrived and was seated straight away. The bar offers delicious cocktails, wines and beer and is themed around New York Skyline, with some Spiderman treats thrown in! What would have made this experience even more special is Marvel-themed custom beer mats. Beer mat printing can be easily done and would add to the ambience of the restaurant.
Whilst you may think you are staring at some art work, be surprised you might find a visitor or two join the imagery! We loved it in here.
When arriving at Downtown restaurant, we were seated quickly and on a lovely round table which I always love. Drinks were taken by our waitress and as it is a self service buffet, you can help yourselves as many times as you want to the food on offer.
The buffet is split into three main sections; American, Italian and Asian. I was so excited to try all three of the different cuisines on offer! My children also love a buffet as they really enjoy helping themselves and using some of their independence in making decisions on what to chose for their meal.
Let me tell you, there was loads on offer!
When I have a buffet, I always like to start of with a ‘starter plate’. With this buffet, there was a huge array of salads, soup, breads to please me to no end. I went for a selection of bread, cheeses, meat and coleslaw.
Next up was a plate of some of the American food on offer at Downtown restaurant. I chose one of the burgers which were delicious, chicken wings, green beans and herby potato wedges. This was all super tasty – I wish I had a bigger belly as I could have kept eating this all night long! The sauce that complimented the chicken was delightful!
We then chose a Chinese plate to share including Dim Sum in the bamboo containers, spring roll, egg fired rice and some Chinese sweet chilli sauce – all was fantastic.
The was a wide range of choice for the children and whilst they offer a small children’s buffet selection, they can of course help themselves to all the food items on offer. They enjoyed some ravioli and meatballs from the Italian selection as well as some potato wedges and green beans.
They also tried the mini burgers (which were just the right size for a buffet!), pizza, sweetcorn on the cob and some cold meats.
These were super cute and we adored the theming to Marvel here. The Italian cannoli was delicious!
The theming of this restaurant is super down played compared to the rest of the hotel. However, despite the lack of marvel theming, I felt it didn’t need it. The theming here is minimalist, with soft browns, creams and golds. As the hotel is so themed, the hotel felt like it was an enjoyable escape from the loud and bright colours that the Hotel Art of Marvel offers, but not in a negative way. We really enjoyed the casual vibe of the restaurant and the food alone just makes up for any loss of theming you may need.
As of 2022, the pricing for Downtown Restaurant is £42 per adult and £30 per children including a soft drink. I of course think this is great value for an adult. But I always think the cost of some buffets for children are too over priced in my opinion as they are never going to eat £30 worth of food.
Overall, we say this is the best buffet restaurant in Disneyland Paris at the moment. We loved the food, loved the Art of Marvel hotel and can’t wait to be back!
