As you may know from reading my other posts (My-picture being one of them) you will know how much photographs are important to me. How I love to capture any day out, special occasion or silly moment. Actually, sometimes it’s capturing the moments of cuddling on the sofa that matter. Simplicity. Snapping life at its best. Last month, Everlasting Memories Photography UK got in touch to offer a family shoot. As this was right up my street, I was really happy to work with Sam, the founder and work together to see what we could produce! I did warn Sam that I had a 17 month old terror who wouldn’t stand still let along sit! We were in for a fun day ahead!
Everlasting Memories was created by Sam in 2017. Sam suffers with a condition known as Fibromyalgia and with it comes anxiety and depression. As a self-help coping mechanism, she turned to photography as she found it relaxing and gave Sam such a buzz. After exhausting the amount of photos she could possibly take of her family and pets, she decided to seek new subjects and 12 months later has now turned her therapy based hobby into a business.
Sam was really open to where we held the photo shoot and as she is very local to me in Solihull, we decided on a nearby park. What I love about photography is capturing natural moments. Whilst I do like the family portraits, I also wanted to get some fun shots. I wanted to see my kids running, playing, exploring and our natural laughter at its best! As soon as we met Sam I knew she was going to be open to suggestions.
Sam had worked on a couple of photo shoots at this park before so she spoke to us about a couple of places to go. As it was dull and had just started to drizzle we tried our best to get some good lighting and after a couple of minutes our luck came in and the sun peaked out! Sam was really approachable and whilst she offered her own ideas, she also listened to ours. I think it is really important for people to feel comfortable on a shoot as it can show on the photos if people feel nervous or agitated. Sam was really patient (especially with Baby K who quite often didn’t want to play ball!)
We spent about 75 minutes in total taking shots around the park which was perfect timing as Baby K was ready for a nap. Sam was really lovely to work with and I couldn’t wait to see what she had captured.
After a few days, Sam sent the photos across and I was so pleased. Not only did she capture some great posed photos but some really natural shots, especially of the children. I love the photo of us walking away, unaware that Sam was capturing a family moment.
Some amazing photos there 😊
I know I love them all!
