Holiday Inn Resort Lake Buena Vista Resort *Review*

For a second family trip to Orlando, Florida (and in particular, Walt Disney World) we decided to stay off site.  We took forever going back at forth, researching different off site Disney Hotels and were particularly drawn to Disney Neighbourhood hotels, meaning we were still super near the parks and could receive some of the perks.

Staying off site to Disney and Universal has many benefits. one being it is cheaper! But for now, please check out our full review of our chosen Hotel, Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista.

Couldn’t fault it! 3 mins drive from Disney Springs and 5 mins drive from entrance to Disney! Walking distance to Chick-filla, Wendy’s, Disney gift shop x2, Macdonalds ,Walgreens, Starbucks, crazy golf, dollar tree, barbers and Dunkin donuts. You could potentially walk to Disney Springs (40 mins due to having to walk down roads) but I wouldn’t do it in the heat and not exactly a scenic route!
It also took about 25 minutes transfer from the Airport, so perfect location for a short transfer time!

The lobby smells amazing! Check in was smooth and simple, staff friendly, pool fabulous with plenty of loungers and chairs and from midday, the hotel hosted games by the pool including diving for spoons, chase the sticks, duck race and competitions to win prizes etc all for the kids! One day they even offered guests free lemonade and cookies by the pool – love little extras like this! Kids loved it and shout out to Johnathan who entertained the kids during our stay!
There is also a small splash park and several pool side games for the family to enjoy!

We felt the hotel was super clean, with a nice pool bar offering beer and cocktails. Food can be eaten here, ordered from AppleBees  which is onsite and was tasty.

In the lobby, there is a kids cinema room and arcade which pleased the kids and there is a nice shop for essentials such as gifts, towels, pool toys and snacks.

Hotel room

We are family of 5 so stayed in the Kids Suite B which had a separate sleeping areas for kids with two bunk beds, another tv and desk. Our room was huge which we were so grateful for and one of the perks for stopping offsite as Disney rooms with a 5th sleeper are on the tighter side. Bed was also mega comfy – i slept like a log! And it was huge (I have a super king at home and it felt on par with this!)

Only slight issue we had was we were facing the pool and it got a little noisy on a few nights but
nothing major. We just whacked the air con on!

The room was complete with a small kitchenette, with a microwave, fridge, coffee machine and some storage.  There was also an ice bucket if you needed.

Shuttle service

The shuttle runs 3 times in the morning (as of 2023) 7.40am, 9.50am and 11.15am. The 11.15am drop off also swings by Disney Springs too (first drop off).
The shuttle drops off at Epcot where you can jump on the monorail to Magic Kingdom, then Hollywood Studios and then Animal kingdom. Collection is Epcot only at 6.40pm ,9.30pm  and 10.30pm which we found a little restricting.
Collection from Disney Springs is also at 8.45pm but be warned you’ll then have to  sit on the bus to Epcot and collect 9.30pm guests then back to hotel which I found frustrating as I wouldn’t have jumped on the bus at Disney Springs if I knew we’d be then going in the opposite direction to sit on a bus for 30 mins to wait at Epcot! But lesson learnt.
We used Lyft most of the time and Disney transportation between resorts to parks as well.
If at Disney springs and you want to go to a park, walk to Saratoga Springs and get on a bus at Congress 4 stop! We also did this leaving a park if we wanted to go to Disney Springs!
Overall, great hotel! And 100% come back again!
