How to Pack for a Stress Free Family Vacation: Must Have Items

Kids Travel Packing List: Family Vacation Essentials.

Planning any vacation can be difficult, especially when kids are added into the mix. When you are planning a vacation for your family there are far more things to take into consideration than when travelling as a couple or even solo and you really need to think about the bigger picture, which means your holiday experience will often start in the home before you have even set off! To make your family vacation go as smoothly as possible from start to finish a little planning in advance is required, so that when you are ready to set off the final checks that all appliances are turned off, valuables safely stored away, and the doors and windows are locked and secure.

To help get your family vacation off to a great start we have put together a kid’s travel packing list, giving you chance to organise your own belongings and ensure you are ready for travel.

Clothes

We will start this list with the clothes, as this is likely to be main bulk of what you are packing. We recently went to Disney World and discovered just how many clothes a family can go through on one trip!

To make sure you have all the clothes that you will need for your trip, which is a lot, it’s a great idea to piece together outfits based on your activities, the weather forecast and the locations you are heading to. Here are a few of the basic items to get you started;

If you are headed to a resort then swimwear will be essential as there will be a wealth of activities to keep the kids busy, but remember that kids will find a way to get their clothes dirty regardless of location so plenty of each item is a must – unless you want to spend a chunk of your vacation washing clothes! On our recent trip we had a batch of custom T-shirts made, each with our names and the name of the trip printed on the front which you can get from any clothing printing company, we chose Banana Moon Clothing based on a recommendation. This is a great idea to keep everyone in check, and also makes for fantastic family photographs to look back on and cherish.

 Travel

Travelling with kids means you have to provide entertainment from the moment you leave the house so having plenty of travel accessories on hand is a must to keep order and peace for the duration of your trip. I wouldn’t usually recommend increasing screen time for the kids, but a tablet loaded with educational apps and games as well as  kid’s series is a perfect way to keep them entertained for a while.

Here are a few of the travel essentials that make it on my packing list for when I am travelling with my family;

A back-up battery powerpack is a must have if you are relying on electricals to provide the much-needed entertainment for the duration of your trip.

Medical

When travelling with kid’s in tow, little accidents are inevitable, which is not a problem if you are well prepared and have covered all bases before you have even left the house. One way to be extra prepared is by putting together a first aid kit, but with the addition of a few extras to make sure the children are okay;

And there you have it – I hope you found this useful and please share your top tips on how to pack for a stress free family vacation!
