Put anything in front of me, and I love to build it! It’s an activity I love doing with the kids and most of the time, building or creating something is calming and great for STEM and fine motor skills. This half term, we’re prepared with two sets of K-Nex to work with! We have been sent out the K-Nex K Force Battle Bow Building Set, aged 8 plus, as well as the K-Nex Rad Rides, which is for aged 7 – 12 years.
We attempted to build the K-Nex K Force Battle Bow Building set first, with 4 different builds included. My eldest, aged 11 wanted to start building on the dart blaster and we got working together, which is what I love about these type of activities. Everything was packaged well with the instructions included. Admittedly, we got off to a slow start with the instructions not being as clear as I would have liked! But we soon got into it and it was a fun and enjoyable experience, one which is perfect for older children to spend some quality time with too!
The battle bow building set comes complete with 4 foam darts which can be fired up to 75 feet, which all my kids thought was impressive! They are soft but do be mindful that it this is fired into the face or soft area, it can hurt a little!
It was a really fun build with plenty of bendy parts and cool contraptions. It is a little more fiddly than Lego but perfect for those children who love to get creative and focus. And whilst the instructions are available within the packaging, you can also access additional models to build online too! Its really appealing knowing that you can buy one building set yet can build several different designs, which is pretty good value for money!
Once built, the dart blaster was easy to use and a lot of fun!
Within the rad rides building set, you can rebuild up to 13 different designs! Priced at only £13 I thought this was excellent value for money. As my 4 year old son LOVES cars, we attempted to build this for him and he chose which design he wanted.
We noticed on the instructions that a few pieces were a different colour to the actual pieces we were using. This was confusing and we had to go by size and shape for some of them. If you have a child that loves cars and loves building, this set is versatile and lots of fun!
You can purchase both sets from the John Lewis.
