Isn’t a home a work in process?! Once one room is complete, another needs an uplift. Make my Blinds was the place to go when it came to giving my bathroom a refresh. After nearly 7 years, we needed to give the walls a lick of paint and remove the bulky (and dusty!) Ikea venetian blind. Thankfully, I love the rest of the interior in the bathroom, in particular the sand and stone coloured tiles. So whilst this was a bathroom refurb, we wasn’t completely gutting out the bathroom – more like an interior restyle!
To begin, we decided to give all the walls a lick of paint with standard white emulation. We also repainted the door and had new door handles fitted. The ceiling was also touched up. Once the ikea blind was removed, the room seemed bare and introduced a nice loud echo! With that in mind, it was time to consider a blind for the bathroom.
Make my blinds is an online store offering an array of different style of blinds. At first I was thinking, how is this going to work ordering online without using a measuring service? I also wanted to ensure that the material and colours were exactly what we wanted. But there really wasn’t anything to worry about. Need a sample? Make my blinds can offer as many samples of blind materials as you wish. This is extremely helpful when choosing what style of blind you wish for.
There is also many different styles of blinds to chose from. Chose from:
– wooden blinds
– roller blinds
– vertical blinds
– venetian blinds
– skylight blinds
– roman blinds
– conservatory blinds
– perfect fit blinds
As we have made to measure wooden venetian blinds all over the house, I decided to go for something a little different and ordered a roller blind. It is really simple and easy to find exactly what you want. Simply filter your search using various search options such as colour, room you wish to have your blind fitted and features.
To match the bathroom tiles and theming, I decided on a speckle portabello roman blind with a light filtering feature.
Again, I was a little anxious doing this. What if I don’t get the measurement correct? However, a simple measurement of the width and length of the window space was all that was needed to fit our Make My blind. I suggest taking several measurements first just to see how accurate you are. Make My binds are there to help, so do not hesitate to reach out and ask any questions if you wish. There also is a FAQ page on their website.
Our blinds arrived with the necessary fixtures and fittings to secure our blinds in place. There really wasn’t much to the DIY – my husband fitted them VERY easily considering he hates DIY! There was also a safety hook to secure any loose string. And instructions!
Despite our drill taking an age to charge, it really did only take a short while to fit the blinds. I’d say in total of 15 minutes at the most.
To complete our bathroom, I decided to bring in a little rose gold. Rose gold is still popular (I hope it sticks around!) so it wasn’t a hard job to find some rose gold accessories. I chose these rose gold letters from Next to spell out BATH, including a room diffuser. I also picked a rose gold toilet roll holder and storage unit from Homesense.
We also chose a blind for my daughters room as it was broken and her room needed a little makeover. This time we went for a taped venetian blind which I just love! It really completes the look of Missy’s room and I love the added element of the tapes. Again, really easy to fit and no issues with the sizing at all.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with the quality of blinds on offer. Despite the old dodgy Ikea blind previously in our bathroom, we have made to measure binds in every window of our home. These are normally provided by a company who come out to your home, measure, and sting you with a bill. This is very expensive! Little did I know, I could get the same quality of blinds from ordering online, measuring and fitting it ourselves – saving a fortune! I absolutely love the blinds, in particular my daughters taped blinds and am considering getting my sons room’s new blinds in this design!
Simply head over to their website to check out what blinds they have on offer. The process is very straight forward and the website is really easy to navigate. Don’t forget to sign up to their newsletter for instant discounts!
