Ok, so we all have a travel bucket list. And whilst I absolutely love to travel abroad, I have begun to learn how beautiful country really is. So lets slow things down a bit, and focus on the Uk itself. There are many cities and places of interest I haven’t been lucky enough to visit yet, and now that I have kids, it has been even more important to me to share these places with them too.
Family time, including holidays are so important to me. This is why I wanted to write down where I would love to visit, to hopefully make it become more achievable over time. Let’s see where we have on my list…!
I have never been to Scotland and for years, I have never really been interested at all to visit. However, more recently I have become really interested in finding out more about Scotland and in particular Edinburgh. I have heard it is a fascinating city and I would love to go for a long weekend with the kids in tow and see the sights (actually I would love a weekend away kid free!! But we can all dream…) I would love to visit National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh castle and Edinburgh Zoo (Oh I do love a Zoo!)
I don’t think I have ever visited Cornwall or if I have, I think I was months old so have no memory of it what so ever. I have heard beautiful stories of Cornwall, in particular St Ives and I would love to visit in the Summer for a long week away. i hear the beaches are just incredible and can almost feel that you are abroad – and the seafood?! Yes please! I think the only thing that has put us off is the journey with three children. But having said that, now we have successfully driven to Disneyland Paris twice, I can see us taking a road trip to St Ives soon!
Ahhhh to visit a city thats rich in cultural and architecture and still get to shop! I would love to take a wander down The Shambles where you can find small independent quirky shops and bars and take the children on the York Chocolate and sweet treasure trail – Yum! Yorkshire Museum looks right up our street too with an exhibition called At The Extinct, where the kids can learn all about creatures past and present (I love dinos so this would also be a bit hit for me!)
Living in the Midlands, this one should be easy to tick of the list as we are not far from the Cotswolds at all. Whilst I have visited many years ago for a night away with Matt, I would love to take the kids for a family day out and wander the streets of Bourton on the Water and Broadway and have a cream tea! There is also Cotswolds Wildlife park that I would also love to visit too! I must hunt down a caravan park close by!
Nope I have never been and really want to go! We have been to both the other Butlin’s sites several times, so Butlin’s Skegness is on my list to visit! We have always had such great holidays to Butlin’s and mostly visit down south to Bognor Regis and it’s just fantastic for the kids. There is so much on offer for the whole family and it’s great that everything is on site. Butlin’s Skegness is the original resort so it really have a classic and traditional feel to it. Yet it has recently had several makeovers and has a few things on offer that is not at the other parks, such as FireHouse Grill Restaurant and a Splash World that is only 5 years old!
Whilst I have visited Devon all my life, we are yet to visit the Haven Caravan Park Devon Cliffs. It is one of the biggest parks out of the Haven Caravan sites and the views from the park just look stunning. There is also a bar and restaurant right on the cliff looking out to the sea, which looks really inviting – I just want to go to Devon Cliffs to visit this restaurant!! We have visited various Haven sites over the years, mostly Burnham on Sea as it is the closet park to us. But I do love exploring and visiting new places!
An there you have it! I am sure as time goes by this list with grow but I hope over the next year or so I can tick some of these beautiful places of the list!!
What’s on your UK travel bucket list? Inspire me!
Thanks for reading xxx
Some great ideas to visit there!
🙂
Hi, I love the idea of holidaying in this country and making the most of what we have on our own doorstep. I have visited Cornwall and loved it so much we’re going back again this year! St ives is fantastic for shopping if you love quirky gifts and unusual items for the home.
I would definitely recommend adding Whitby Yorkshire to your list too.
Beautiful beaches, shops, seafood and pirate ship rides for the kids!
Thank you for your comment!! Cornwall looks beautiful – I am looking at going in the summer! Thanks for the tips on Whitby Yorkshire – much appreciated!
