Party Bag Favours – an alternative idea with The Humble Hostess

It was Missy’s 5th Birthday party last weekend, and I had the pleasure of working with The Humble Hostess on the party bags!  There is so much to consider when planning a child’s birthday party, and the one thing I struggle with the most is the party bags!  More often than not, a party bag contains small items to keep a child amused on the journey home from the party, then are quickly abandoned once home!

For Miss W’s party favours, I wanted something unique, fun and that the children could get creative with once they went home!  The Humble Hostess offers just that –  handmade personalised party gift boxes with a unique touch!  Of course, there is so much more on offer…

The Humble Hostess

The Humble Hostess was started by Jo, a London based Mum of 2 who felt that they was a gap in the market when it came to children’s party decor and party bag ideas.  Jo offers an online bespoke party service, where you can purchase party packs to your hearts content.

The Humble Hostess’s aim is to provide stress free party preparation, and offer affordable and memorable party accessories, props and decorations.  So if your after cupcake toppers, bunting, paper plates, stickers, balloons – this is the place to come!   And of course, party bags!  Some of the party packs are so colourful and fun such as the ‘train party‘ rainbows and unicorns’ and ‘dinosaur party’.

Miss W’s personalised party bags

For us, we were after party bags with a difference.  We have all been to a party where the party bags are full to the brim of little plastic toys, sweets and bouncy balls!  And whilst that is still ok, it was felt that more could be offered when it came to party bags for a child’s birthday.  This is where the idea of baking kit party  bags came alive.

Miss W had her party with 19 friends last month at a local soft play and music studio.  The Humble Hostess and I worked together to create W’s perfect party bag.  She decided to chose a baby pink pin striped design, including a personalised message of:

‘Thank you for coming to Miss W’s Party’

Inside, the Humble Hostess provides you with a bag of biscuit mix, and an ingredients and recipe sheet to bake your biscuits at home.  All the boxes are delivered flat packed to save on any damage.  It was lovely to sit down with Miss and assemble her party boxes for her and her friends.  The party box’s were super easy to pop open and the personalised stickers were already pre-done.  All we had to do was pop in each biscuit mix and tie the box up with the pink polkadot ribbon provided.

We decided to purchase biscuit cutters to add into Miss W’s party boxes, which of course you are free to do.  We simply ordered some cutters from amazon – a pack of 25 for £8.

These mini baking kits for the little ones to take home were a real hit and many parents asked where they were from.  They look impressive yet simplistic and offer that vintage and traditional look.  What I love most about the themes on offer by Humble Hostess is that they are original, and do not have character items displayed all over the design.  Whilst I understand that children do like characters, sometimes its nice to keep it simple!

If your in the process of planning your child’s birthday party, do check out Humble Hostess’s website.  We were super impressed with these baking kit party boxes and they went down a storm with Miss W, who thoroughly enjoyed baking her biscuits the following day!
