Who know’s Ryan Toys Review on Youtube? I am sure most parents will recognise the name from their children coming across his video’s at some point! Ryan Toys expanded to have his own range of Toys and even Video games in the most recent years! Ryan’s Rescue Squad is the latest from the franchise and we have had the pleasure of reviewing the latest game on our Nintendo Switch!
We love playing computer games as a family in our house, so we were thrilled to try this new game out all together. And if you are a fan of Super Mario, you will realise that this game is a similar layout in that it is a 3D Side scrolling platform, which in my opinion is a super simple way of playing video games and therefore making it appealing for the younger generation.
At the beginning of launching a new game, you will get the chance to watch a comic clip of Ryan and his friends and begins the story of how the Evil Dark Titan has taken hostage some of his friends and therefore it is down to Ryan to save the day.
From the get go, you can see that there is 4 worlds to battle against, with various levels within each world. You only have access to 1 world to begin with and once you have passed through one world, will then open the next door to the awaiting world. Each world is super engaging with different themes for each World.
The levels are super easy to understand with some prompts on what to do when you come across something new with arrows and button guides on how to jump/throw slime etc and collect Ryan’s Surprise Eggs (which no doubt you have seen in the shops the past few years!) The one issue that I keep having is the jump aspect in that my children (aged 5 and 7) (and even I!) struggle to get up onto the higher platforms, meaning it takes quite a while to get though one level with many attempts to get up onto the next section in order to move through the game.
The levels are all different, with new aspects, challenges and enemies to meet along the way which is great. The look is vibrant, fun and the kids love how after each level you unlock a new costume item which you can then access in the Shop area to dress up Ryan or his friends who help him on his journey.
What is great is that the game offers a 2 player mode, meaning all three of my children can take it in turns to play together. There is also an option to play mini games within the platform such as Bulls Eye, Spaceship Flight The Floor is Lava and Fire at Will!
So what are our thoughts on Ryan’s rescue squad? We really like the game! It’s super colourful, fun, engaging and both my younger two children can really relate to the characters as they know Ryan Toys Review so well! The game is an easy concept (aside from my difficulty with the jump aspect) which seems like a individual issue I am having and doesn’t seem to be occurring across the board. Overall, we are super impressed and are looking forward to continuing with Ryan’s battle to save his friends!
Ryan’s Rescue Squd is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, XBox, and PC and is published by Outright Games.
