Three quick and tasty sandwich ideas

Working at home for many years means that lunch can become a bit of a groundhog day experience.  I am often searching the internet for some ideas on how i can spruce up my sandwich fillings and still have a cheap but tasty lunch!  There are so many different types of bread on the market, and whilst its enjoyable to try different styles and flavours, one of my go to breads is best of both, meaning that this pleases not only myself and husband, but my kids too!  This bread is the perfect mix of specially while and wholemeal flour.

Here is my top 3 cheap and tasty sandwich ideas!

Bacon and Brie with Cranberry

This is one of my ultimate favourite sandwich fillers!  Perfect for those winter days, this is a warm and filling sandwich that really hits that pallet.  The saltiness of the bacon is a perfect match to the brie cheese, which is super light.  The cranberry, is of course optional, however it really adds a ‘zing’ to your sandwich and is perfect on Hovis’s best of both!

Quickly fry or grill some bacon and then simply top with the brie either still in the pan or after you’ve added it to your sandwich.  Finish with a spreading of cranberry sauce or add on the side for dipping – heaven!

French Toast

French toast does not have to be for breakfast!  This is a lovely alternative if your looking for something to warm you up during your lunch break!  And it’s super easy and quick!  To make french toast, you simply dip your bread into an eggy mixture.  You can add some herbs or spices to your eggy mix to add additional flavours.  For me, I love to add cinnamon. Once you had covered your bread in the eggy mixture, simply fry in some fry light or low fat oil on both sides.  You can then top with some strawberries, honey and whatever toppings you fancy!  A lovely warm but summery sandwich for lunch!

Spicy Fish Finger Sandwich

Who doesn’t love a fish finger sandwich!  This is my go to sandwich for when I am super hungry!  This is so simply and tasty, and is a real treat.  Simply pop some fish fingers or fish goujons into the air fryer.  Layer your sandwich with some lettuce, mayonnaise sauce and hot sauce for an added kick!  The hot sauce really adds a kick to the cooling mayo, which works perfectly well with the fish!  Overall, a real good sandwich!

And there you have it!  Some warming sandwich ideas for your working from home lunch break!  What is your favourite hot sandwich?
