I love covering a bit of fashion on my blog. Whilst this is a family blog, being a Mum means finding things for YOU too. And for me, I love a good outfit! It’s lovely to have a space on the internet to share outfit reviews and ideas and I too, love to get inspiration from other Mums. Whilst I am not solely a fashion blogger, its nice to have extra additions within a blog.
There are many ways in which brands can work with fashion bloggers. Working with brands within the blogging industry is a great way to connect, collaborate and eventually earn an income from your blog. These tips apply to all other niches of blogging, but for the purpose of this post, I will just focus on fashion.
One of the first ways in which brands can work with fashion bloggers is within a review type collaboration. In a nutshell, this means that in exchange for a review blog post, the brand will send out some items of clothing. Normally, this will mean that the brand will ask the blogger to pick an item or selection of items to be sent out with no charge. Instead, the blogger will then work on a review for the brand. This will involve trying on the items, taking great quality photos and then writing a review blog post. Sometimes, the brand will ask for specific requirements (when this is the case, there will normally be a fee paid) For example, the criteria might be that the blogger has to write a blog post and post on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.
Sponsored posts are another way in which brands work with bloggers. Essentially, this is the way that brands pay bloggers to post. An agreement will be made and will usually involve certain links, anchor texts and sometimes imagery to be used. Terms of payment and a deadline is also usually agreed. Payment is discussed between the brand and the blogger and the work is then done set to that agreement or contract.
Another way in which fashion bloggers can work with brands is to include links or adverts on to their blog. This may mean that a brand would like a link adding to their website within a prewritten blog post. This will be done for a fee as outlined in the sponsored posts section. Some bloggers also include ad’s within their pages on their blog. This may be within the text of a blog post or within a side bar. This is a great way for brands to instantly get seen on a blog’s home page.
Many bloggers use affiliated links. This means that whenever a customer clicks through to a brands link and makes a purchase, the bloggers gets a small fee or commission. There is no fee charge to the customer at all. This is a great way of making a steady stream on income, and you can also use this on instagram too, especially on stories when using the swipe up element.
Signing up to Getblogged is a great way of checking out collaborations. You can do this by using their Marketplace section of their website and blogger outreach services. Brands will post their jobs within the marketplace section, detailing all their requirements, details and payment terms. Bloggers then match up their requirements, check their eligibility and then apply! It’s a great way of managing a ‘contract’ and agreement, without the hassle of back and forth emails – which let’s face it, takes time! This is super speedy and an effective way of making connections. It’s benificial for both the fashion blogger, who gets to peruse different collaborations as well as the brand, who can then easily connect with the right fashion blogger for them!
