Anyone else have a fussy eater? Since my little girl turned about 6 years old (she is now 8) she became extremely fussy when it came to what food she ate. Foods were becoming limited, and she was less interested in trying new textures, tastes and she fell out of love trying new foods. I came to accept that what she did love was just how it was going to be, and that I wasn’t going to force her to eat foods she disliked. However, despite the limitations on different foods, she loves to cook! Not only is she learning but she is getting to know different foods more. Admittedly, in the past we would only tend to bake cakes and sweet goods but since I got my hands on Sammy Satsumas’ personalised recipe book, cooking together has taken a new stance.
Whether you child loves cooking or isn’t really showing an interest, Sammy Satsuma personalised recipe book is one to consider when it comes to introducing healthy, fun and even new (or old!) foods to your child. The book has been designed to encourage more healthier eating in children as well as making cooking and baking a more personalised journey for your child.
This bright and colouring personalised recipe book perfect for kids is a new independent brand to hit the market, meaning the customer is able to support small! From the moment you reach their website, Sammy Satsuma greets you with its cheeky smile and directs you on how to make your recipe book personalised for your child.
It’s super easy and fun to do. Whether you are designing it for a gift or want to sit with your child and let them help, it’s a super fun task! Firstly, you can choose your child’s name and avatar, including their gender, hair style and colour and then eye and skin colour. You can also add glasses and freckles which is super cute (Missy has lots of lovely freckles so I was sure to include them!)
You then get to select 10 recipes you think your child would love to eat and help prepare! This was the fun part! I loved perusing the lovely recipes on offer, and in all honestly, I was spoilt for choice, despite Missy being a fussy eater! In the end I chose a mix of both savory and sweet options to test our cooking skills with! Some of the recipes we chose were:
– Becki Broccoli and Sausage Pasta Bake (Missy loves broccoli)
– Buster Banana and chocolate chip Muffins
– Christopher Corn Easy Peasy Pizzas
– Peggy Peas Pea and Courgette Fritters
The personalised recipe book is ring bound and laminated with a glossy finish, meaning any sticky fingers or dusty flour can get all over this book and it wouldn’t be imminently damaged! The recipe book features Missy on the front, including her name which she loved! Throughout the book, there is a little story to go with each recipe (again featuring her name) to make it feel really personal to her, which I think is really important.
We decided to have a go at baking the banana and chocolate chop muffins, despite Missy not going anywhere near a banana!
We loved baking our banana and chocolate chip muffins! The recipe was super easy to follow and Missy really joined in reading from the recipe book, shouting out what ingredients we needed and what measurements were required!
Like I have said previously, the book is super colourful, with a fun but easy to read font and instantly enticed us! I love the fact that Missy’s name is throughout the recipe book and that we could select the recipes we wanted to have included – genius! What’s an amazing addition to the book is that there is a QR code where you can access videos to help support your child with various cooking techniques! This is the perfect recipe book for kids and even better than you can personalise it! It’s a great way to get your little ones creative in the kitchen!
