On Saturday 28th April 2018 we were kindly invited to Yellow Zebra Safaris blogger event. My three children, husband and I were very excited about this event – not only was it in London (East to be precise) but it sounded truly animalistic! Think escaping critters, jaw biting animals, spectacular food and fun animal creativity – that’s what was in store for us and we just couldn’t wait!
Before we get onto the event, let me tell you a little bit about this bespoke luxury family travel company dedicated to providing safari holidays. From the onset, I felt that this travel company was unique in its own right. I mean, I never even thought that family and a safari holiday could go hand in hand! They offer several malaria free resorts across South Africa for families with children under 5 as well as catering for all your children’s needs across all of their resorts. Just imagine seeing your children’s faces when they catch a glimpse of a wild animal in their natural habitat. Sounds a little bit different to our Disney breaks we’ve been on!
I know for sure that this would be awesome for my children, especially B as he loves all things wild, especially Tigers just like his Dad! Not only this but Yellow Zebra Safaris have now been recognised by the trusted family voice Angels and Urchins as the Best Family Specialist in their 2018 Family Travel Awards!
Not only do they cater for families, but this travel company would be perfect for any jetsetter, couples looking to escape to the wild or groups of explorers. Their website is really easy to navigate and their prime focus is ensuring they tailor the right holiday specific to your needs, wants and desires. The family safari holidays section on their website is just perfect for those who really want to find the perfect safari break. You can use filters such as your children’s age and time of travel including school holidays. I personally think every travel company should provide this tool!
Finally, as I mentioned, Yellow Zebra Safari’s is all about luxury and to me, that sounds like heaven! Being about to see your favourite animals in the wild along with ‘living the life of luxury’ – what’s not to love. YZS does sound like a dream come true!
When we arrived at the event in Clapton, London, we were warmly and personally greeted by members of Yellow Zebra Safaris staff who seemed just as excited as we were! The room looked fantastic and every effort had been made to make this event one to remember! The room had several tables laid out for lunch, ceramic painting and an area for Safari Pete. There was theming all around the room with a safari back drop, balloons and photo props! We got stuck in straight away and after a lovely Nespresso coffee, we started playing around with the photo props! I have to say I felt like a kid again!
Safari Pete kicked off the beginning of the show stopping event and we all gathered round to see some amazing animals and critters up close and personal! Pete was an absolute blast and had some real history with his animals! You could tell he cared so deeply for them. He talked about the history of each animal, its personal traits and even some sad stories of how some of them ended up in his care. Two beautiful Bearded Dragon Lizards called Poogy and Doogy were found in a London public toilet with dirt and toilet paper all over them. B volunteered to hold one of these beautiful creatures! It was lovely to see the children so brave and the interaction between the annals and children was really refreshing!
We also met Jay -Z the crocodile which was super cool, Lady Gaga the tarantula (I ran a mile!) and my absolute favourite of the day, Steve and Baby Bear, the Meerkats.
All the children were gripped from the moment Pete brought out his first animal – the stunning Barn owl called Juliette to the final show stopper Boo Boo the lizard!
After a super cool and exciting morning, we were then seated for lunch. The children’s tables were decorated safari themed and each had a balloon tied to their chair and an animal mask. The children’s food was fabulous – mini fish and chips, pizza bites, bags of popcorn and chocolate brownies were just a few named from the huge spread they had on offer. For us adults, we were treated to a Mediterranean feast of cured meats, breads and olives and everything in between – just bliss!
The final activity of the day was provided by the wonderful Circle Ceramics where each child chose a ceramic animal of their choice to paint. Both B and W got stuck in straight away and painted their favourite animals on offer – a Crocodile and a Lion. Both really enjoyed this activity but more so W who took her time in choosing the right colours for her Lion. She was the last one at the table!
What a wonderful time we had at Yellow Zebra Safaris event! Not only did we learn some fascinating facts about the creatures that walk this planet, but it really gave us an insight into what going on a safari would be like. It’s really opened up my eyes to a Safari family holiday and I thank YZS for this!

Wow that looks like a really exciting place to visit. Our boys would be in their element 😊 and me of course xx
Yes it was lots of fun and I enjoyed it as much as the kids did!
Wow this event looks like so much fun! I’d have run a mile from the tarantula too (terrified of spiders!). I’d love to go on a safari but I guess I never considered them to be family friendly – more like honeymoon type holidays!
Yes its really opened up my eyes to pairing the two together! Spiders are my worse nightmare!
